Quality of life after liposuction for lipedema: a prospective study

9

This prospective study evaluated the impact of liposuction on the quality of life of patients with lipedema. The results indicate significant improvement in physical and psychological well-being after surgery, with reduction in pain, swelling, and functional hindrance. The study emphasizes the importance of a personalized approach, taking into account the patient’s clinical condition and expectations. Liposuction, particularly with techniques such as WAL (Water Assisted Liposuction), is confirmed as an effective option for improving quality of life and reducing the disabling symptoms of lipedema. The need for long-term follow-up to monitor results and prevent recurrence is also highlighted.
Relevance: High, because it provides concrete evidence on the effectiveness of surgery in an often underestimated condition.
