This study compared three therapeutic approaches in the treatment of severe lipedema: complex decongestive therapy (TDC), intermittent pneumatic compression, and exercise. The results showed that TDC is the most effective therapy in reducing limb volume, pain and improving function. Intermittent pneumatic compression and exercise, while helpful, had less effect than TDC. The study highlights that the combination of manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandages, and targeted exercises is critical in controlling symptoms and slowing the progression of lipedema.
Relevance: High, to guide clinical practice toward evidence-based treatments.
